Private: Out of a Dark Cabinet: Rarely Viewed Treasures from the Permanent Collection

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]It is said that the average museum only exhibits 15% of its collections at any given time. Over the years many objects are worked into original exhibits, but some objects languish for long periods, unseen in the cabinets and storage, before they fit an exhibit theme. The museum’s permanent collection contains over 10,000 items. During 2011, the mezzanine gallery showcased a variety of rarely seen items in a rotating series of exhibits entitled “Out of a Dark Cabinet: Rarely Viewed Treasures from the Permanent Collection.” Rotating themes were planned to highlight selections from the extensive collection of ancient artifacts, works on paper, paintings and Judaic ritual objects that have not been “out of the cabinets” in years.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
