SCHEDULING A GROUP TOUR

Determine if the group is to tour the entire museum or specific exhibitions for in-depth study. While note taking is allowed with pencils only, assignments should be completed outside the Museum visit.

Docent-led tours may be scheduled on a first-come first-served basis for groups to begin between 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. on weekdays; Noon-3:00 p.m. on Saturday; 1:00-3:00 p.m. Sunday.

Allow one-and-one-half to two-and-one-half hours for your group to fully experience the Museum.

ARRIVAL

Please arrive at the Museum fifteen minutes prior to scheduled Tour time.

Consider nametags for leader, teacher, chaperones, and students/group members to identify the group and to facilitate addressing each person by name.

Please divide your group and assign chaperones to reduce confusion PRIOR to arriving.

There is sufficient bus parking on the property after dropping occupants at the entrance. Bus drivers may accompany the group at no charge.

BEFORE YOUR VISIT

Make the most of your group’s trip to the Museum and introduce concepts of tolerance, respect for diversity, the jewish religion and culture, and the Holocaust. We ask that the Museum NOT be your groups’ introduction to these subjects, yet that some preparation takes place prior to your visit. The Museum has resources to help you prepare your group.

Teachers or group leaders are encouraged to visit the Museum prior to the group trip. Identify yourself as a teacher or leader at the admission desk, and we will be glad to help.

MUSEUM BEHAVIOR

Please speak to your group about proper museum behavior. There may be other visitors in the Museum at the same time as your visit, so please encourage:

  • Museum voices
  • Leaving in vehicles: backpacks/purses, chewing gum, food/drink, still or video cameras, beepers/cell phones
  • Keeping hands in pockets and/or away from the art and exhibit
  • Groups exhibiting inappropriate behavior may be asked to leave the Museum.
